Defaulting an appointment.
We now operate a practice policy for patients who fail to attend their appointments without explanation. This is because we have noticed an increase in the number of appointments that are unused due to patients not letting us know they cannot make it. We hope that this will allow our appointment system to be used more effectively in the future.
If you fail to attend any appointment with a healthcare professional you will receive a warning letter reminding you of the importance of cancelling unwanted appointments. If following this letter you fail to attend a further 2 appointments (which also result in a warning letter) without cancelling it you will be sent a final warning letter.
If after this you fail to attend again this could result in you being removed from the practice list.
We are aware that it may not always be possible to let us know in advance of being unable to attend an appointment and in certain exceptional circumstances we may alter this policy if an adequate reason is given why an appointment was missed.
